Mission Trip FAQs
Do I need to have Mission Trip Experience to Participate?
While having had past experience serving on a mission trip could be helpful, this isn't required. We believe that God can use all our gifts and talents for His glory, so all that's really needed is your willingness to step out of your comfort zone in faith, and support from your mission team, that He will use your for His glory.
What happens during a mission trip?
The specific schedule and programming can differ from mission to mission, but typically this includes a variety of spiritual, social, and educational services. If we are joined by medical professionals during a mission, they may also provide medical services. Alongside this is a rich spiritual routine including prayer, quiet time and spiritual topics throughout the mission.
I want to serve on a mission trip, but the cost is prohibitve? What are my options?
The cost of serving on a mission trip can certainly add up, but we never want the cost to be the reason someone chooses not to participate. For every mission trip, we give every participant the opportunity to receive a unique fundraising link to use to raise funds through family, friends, and coworkers to support their expenses. Additionally, you can reach out directly to your mission coordinators about other options to make the trip more financially feasible.
Are my mission trip payments tax-deductible?
Yes! In most cases, the expenses associated with participating in a mission trip are tax-deductible under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3). You'll want to consult with an accountant or tax advisor for your particular circumstances.
What is the cancellation policy?
The deposit due with your registration is non-refundable. How far into the planning we are will determine how much of the trip can be refunded since we may not be able to refund these expenses.
In the case that SALT needs to cancel a mission trip, the total amount paid may be refunded.
