LOCAL EVENTS

As core as international mission work is at SALT, our role as missionaries is meant to be lived on a day-to-day basis. Looking at our own backyard, God opens doors to serve and share His love in our own community.

Adult Seminar 2026:

Title:
  • "Arise, O You children of the light!" 
    • ​The Church's mission today.
  • This comes from the midnight praises and inspired by Isaiah 60:1. 
  • Arise implies freedom and liberation, shine/ children of light is directly connected to it.

Speakers:
  • Riad Ghobrial:
    • ​Riad's research is interdisciplinary, combining the theology of the poor and mission theology with liturgical and patristic studies. He holds a first degree in civil engineering from Cairo University. Over the years, he has served extensively with the Coptic Orthodox Church in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Congo, and Bolivia. Riad earned two Master's degrees in Theological Studies-one from St. Athanasius and St. Cyril Theological School and another from Claremont School of Theology. He has authored several publications, including The Journey (Volumes I and II) and Look at Me and Have Mercy on Me: A Study on the Book of Psalms in Ancient Jewish and Contemporary African Contexts. Additionally. Riad has contributed numerous articles and book chapters and led the translation of the Coptic Psalmody into Swahili. He is a visiting lecturer at various institutions globally, a member of the editorial board of the African Christian Theology journal, and serves on the advisory board of Salt: Crossroads of Religion and Culture journal. Currently, he is completing his PhD in Sacramental Theology of the Poor at the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies, UK.
  • Myrto Theocharous:
    • Myrto Theocharous has a PhD from the University of Cambridge, UK. She is professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at the Greek Bible College in Athens, Greece and serves as president of Nea Zoi Anti-Trafficking Ministry.
